"What is Christmas in July? Excerpts from Lucinda's thread:

July is a notoriously sleepy month for retail and E-tail, so many places plan a "Christmas in July" sale to entice buyers to either A) buy Holiday items at a discount way early or B) buy older merchandise the sellers want to move so it feels like the Holidays for the sellers since some cash is flowing in (and the buyers get deals). Sales on Etsy for the first two events have been great for some but sluggish for others - - like all things Etsy, what works for one shop might bomb for another so know that going in :)

How to participate: When it gets closer to the time, change your tags so one reads either Christmasinjuly (one word) or CIJ. This takes time so you'll want to NOT do it the night before it begins :)

What to offer as a sale: Whatever you want - - free shipping, a % off, BOGO, whatever you think you want to offer - - it is up to YOU. Anything goes :)

What items to offer? Just Christmas stuff?: No, it is NOT just Christmas or Holiday items that can be offered - - this is a time to offer even your older pieces you want GONE because so long as it feels like Christmas/Holidays to *someone* (buyer or seller) it qualifies - - so every and anything can get put up for sale. It is just a catchy retail phrase meaning SUMMER SALE so don't get hung up on the word "Christmas" :)

Birthday Dinner

So today is my fiance's birthday and I wanted to do something special for him. My father has a coworker who received Alaskan Salmon from a relative. He receives so much of it that he is usually especially kind and shares some of the frozen fillets with us! I decided to do baked salmon with fried rice.

I placed my cut fillets into little foil packets and added the juice of two limes, and a little bit of water. Earlier I had a pan melting butter mixed with a little extra virgin olive oil, a few splashes of soy sauce, spicy mustard, and a pinch of chili flakes. I had it melt and simmer for about 5 minutes and let it cool. I added my mixture to my salmon packets, folded them shut, placed them on a pan and baked them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 - 25 minutes.

The meal was seriously yummy! I will admit, I cheated on the friend rice. I bought some steam in a bag rice from our grocery store. The dressing is a simple mix of catalina or French style dressing mixed with spicy mustard and honey.

If you are looking for a great baked salmon recipe I highly suggest these!

BzzCampaign: Bic Soleil Savvy

Seriously, how can you go wrong with a name like "Soleil Savvy". Oooh it just sounds so lovely and exotic!

Yes, it is that time again. It is another fabulous BzzCampaign Bzzkit! Today we are reviewing the Bic Soleil Savvy Razor.

The package I received came with:
  • One full size Bic Soleil Savvy Razor kit which comes with 1 disposable handle and 4 cartridges.
  • Bundle of $3 off coupons
  • Bzzcampaign Bzzguide
  • BzzAgent Letter

This "Click n' Go" razor advertises:
  • 3 Flexible blades for a flawlessly smooth shave
  • Lubricating strips with Vitamin E
  • Pivoting head and rubber grip for ultimate comfort
I'll admit, I am a sucker for pink so I was already completely drawn t this product. This razor simply screams summer and bathing suit season! I ripped into this package as soon as I could. Not only did it leave my legs feeling silky smooth and soft, my legs remained shred free! I have always had an issue shaving around my knees. Maybe I am just a schmuck with a razor, but I always manage to nick the area around my knees. I had absolutely no problems shaving with this razor. The pivoting head made it easy and painless when going over those troublesome areas.

Here are a few helpful tips found in my bzzguide to keep in mind when shaving:

  • Shave at night
Shaving removes dead skin cells and the superficial layer of skin. While this process is healthy, it reduces your skin's defenses for a couple hours. Shaving at night gives your skin time to recover its strength and suppleness to resist irritation the next day.
  • Shave clean skin
To help prevent infection and bumps, make sure your skin is perfectly clean before you shave. Apply hot water beforehand or shave after showering. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your hair, making it easier to shave.
  • Apply shaving cream or gel
Use shaving cream or gel with Aloe Vera when shaving — it's gentler on your skin than regular soap and can help lift hair. Lather the cream or gel, then leave it on for two minutes prior to shaving. Once your hair is softened, the razor will glide more easily over skin.
  • Use a sharp blade
Change your blades regularly, especially if you have sensitive skin. On sensitive areas like your bikini line and underarms, shaving with a dull blade can result in red spots.
Thanks for reading everyone! I hope that you found this information to be useful in your search for the perfect razor!

Happy Friday Everyone

Yay for weekends =)! I am thinking it is time to make yet another pudding pie! This week we enjoyed two scrumptious pudding pies in our household, banana caramel and chocolate. Yum!

Now, I could sit here and say that I spent the entire time in the kitchen slaving over these yummy goodness, but that would be a big fat lie. lol sadly, these aren't really homemade (unless you count preparing pudding and adding store bought pie crust as homemade lol).

For the chocolate pie:

1 box of chocolate pudding
1 pie crust
Chocolate syrup
Grated Chocolate

I baked our pie crust in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes (until golden brown). While my crust was baking I prepared our chocolate pudding as per the box directions and let it chill in the fridge. Once my crust was done I set it aside to cool. Once the crust was cool, I poured my pudding into the crust, topped with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and chocolate shavings, then put the pie in the freezer (covered) for about an hour. The pie should be firm enough to hold it's shape, but not entirely frozen when served.

For the banana caramel pie:

1 box of vanilla pudding
2 bananas
1 pie crust
Caramel sauce
Cinnamon

For this pie I sprinkled a little bit of cinnamon (just enough for flavor, don't go too crazy as a little goes a long way) onto my raw pie crust and then baked it at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. I prepared my pudding as per the box directions then let it chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Once the crust is done, set it aside to cool. Once the crust is cool, line the bottom of the crust with slices of 1 banana (leave the other banana for the top!), pour your pudding on top of the bananas then top with slices from your 2nd banana. Top the pie off with a few pinches of cinnamon and caramel sauce and then place in the freezer to chill (covered). The pie should be firm enough to hold it's shape, but not entirely frozen when served.

** to keep the bananas from browning, I did brush a tiny amount of lemon juice over the tops of the bananas slice. I have also read that orange juice will protect from browning as well.

While these pies may not be entirely homemade, they were very yummy, and provided a nice chilly treat for the whole family =).
