Cinco de Mayo Celebration! Free Printables

The 5th of May, or Cinco de Mayo in Spanish, is almost here! Here in South Texas, there are always fun and colorful festivities that take place. For those that do not know, here is a little bit of history:

"Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla). It originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War, and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín." -Wikipedia

Here in the south, there is music, dancing, tasty food, and lots of pride as we celebrate this special day.

Bzzagent Campaign Review: Frosted Flakes® Choco Zucaritas™

Anyone who knows me, knows I adore chocolate! So how excited do you think I was when Bzzagent.com gave me the wonderful opportunity to try Frosted Flakes Choco Zucaritas cereal!

So, let's start off with a funny story! I had just gotten home, when I found a lovely package from bzzagent just waiting to get ripped into! I opened the box, and found not one, but two yumtastic boxes of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Choco Zucaritas cereal! (Yum!) I decided to wait until the following morning to get into the chocolately goodness. Unfortunately, my sister's fiance had other plans. Just as I was entering the kitchen later in the evening, I find her future hubby chowing down on Neapolitan ice cream topped off with the chocolate frosted flakes. He had been caught red-handed! However, he did tell me that it really did make a truly yummy and crunchy topping to his ice cream:

Yes, that large bowl of ice cream fed ONE person lol

I was able to try my bowl the following morning and it was DELICIOUS! Who doesn't love a bowl of chocolately goodness in the morning? The flakes stayed nice and crunchy and created a yummy chocolate milk at the bottom of my bowl.

Here is the nutritional break down:

This was seriously a yummy, sweet treat for our whole family. I can't wait to try to work these tasty flakes into some yummy recipes which you will be seeing here soon! Not only does the cereal make a tasty breakfast, but it makes a great snack on the go as well! I am definitely going to try to work these flakes into some chocolate cereal bars this week!

Earth Day 2013 - Free Printable Word Search

Earth Day is just around the corner! It is a time to give back to the planet that has provided us with so much.

How do you and your family celebrate this special day? We would also love to hear some of your own personal suggestions as well! Feel free to leave  a message in the comment section :)

Don't know what to do this year? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Plant something!
Plant a new tree in your community or maybe add some new plants and flowers to either a community center (with permission of course) or to your own personal garden at home! Turn it into a family affair and teach children about the specific plants you are planting and watch them as they plant new life into the soil.
  • Have fun with crafts using things from nature.
Why not get creative with what you already have in your yard and make some fun and festive crafts with a nature flair! Stones, pine cones, seeds, twigs, etc, can all help become wonderful bases to fun and unique craft ideas.
  • Educate!
Use this special time to educate your young ones about the importance of mother nature and how she can get sick just like us. Help show them how to help her feel better by teaching them about recycling, gardening, and how bad littering can be to our environment

In your downtime, why not enjoy this fun word search/coloring sheet with your kids! These printables are free for all! While you are more than welcome to print these for whatever occasion you prefer, I ask that you do not post these on your own website with consulting me first. Bzzagent Review: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free B.B. Cream

Having oily skin is definitely no fun. It is something I have had to deal with since my high school and has always been bothersome. I have to really be picky about the kind of facial creams, I use, the make-up I wear (ESPECIALLY concealer), to how and where I wear sunblock. *insert super hero music here* Bzzagent to the rescue!

This wonderfully kit contained Garnier's Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free B.B. Cream. So what is a B.B. cream? B.B. Cream, or Beauty Balm Cream, is a new multi-faceted solution for a multitude of skin problems such as:
  • Controls shine
  • Minimizes pores
  • Evens skin tone
  • Hydrates
  • Protects with SPF 20 Sunscreen

I love that I don't have to wear a mountain of makeup and creams to get the same look of multiple products! The cream is lightweight and really does cover small blemishes. Another perk that really caught my attention was the SPF 20. I am always looking to purchase more and more make-up with spf built in so this was a plus for me.

The cream blended into my skin nicely and really is an easy addition to my everyday morning regimen.

I liked that the cream really does reduce the look of large pores and helps smooth out the shiny, oily areas, without leaving a mess of grease or making you look (and feel) like you are wearing a mountain of makeup. For those with oily skin, I really do suggest this product. It helps even out your tone and doesn't add extra oilyness.

It takes a lot of technology to get the kind of results that Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free B.B. Cream produces. Here's the lowdown on what you get in every tube:
  • Works on combination to oily skin with three shades: Light/Medium, Medium/Deep, and Deep
  • Ultra absorbent formula contains mineral Perlite, which retains twice its weight in oil and water to control shine
  • Formulated with sheer natural mineral pigments, so you'll get a smooth, flawless finish with each use
  • It's non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic: fancy words that mean Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Oil-Free B.B. Cream won't clog pores or cause breakouts
  • Oil-free, non-greasy
  • Available at mass retailers for a suggested retail price of $12.99
So I did some research online and here are some comments that I have read so far:

"The cream turns orange!"

Hmm I have had mine for about a month now and have never had this problem; however please keep in mind that while we sometimes ignore them, cosmetics do have a shelf life! Make sure to always check the packaging when you make your purchase.

"Make-up wouldn't blend"

Do some research on what you wear! Make sure that you are purchasing the right tone for your skin. There are many shades available  for different skin tones.

"Poor cover-up"

I am in the middle here. While I am happy with the coverage of this product, if you have lots of problem areas or larger problem areas that are sometimes hard to cover, you may want to use your favorite conceal alongside this product as I don't feel that it is great for larger problem areas.

"It made me breakout!"

Creams, lotions, & SPF have different effects on everyone. Make-sure you are using the right type of cream for your skin. The B.B. Cream that I used was created for oily skin so I saw no problems with breakouts but might have if the cream had been made for another skin type.

Since receiving this product, I have truly enjoyed it. It is quick and easy to put on and really adds that extra kick in my step.  So if you are looking for a new product or just want to try out new creams and concealers, definitely add this one to your list!

Author Review: Eloisa James

I have been an Eloisa James fan for quite some time. I absolutely love historical romance novels. I have always enjoyed the fact that they are unique in the sense that not only are they incredibly romantic, but they take you back to a time much different than our own. Writing is hard enough, but to find an author who is devoted to creating relatable & in depth characters that the reader can fall in love with AND back their work up with hours of era specific research is just astonishing! Eloisa James's novels are truly works of art that can be enjoyed time and time again. I typically do not read novels again once I have completed them, but my collection of Eloisa books have been read and read again many times over.

If you have never dived into the world of historical romance, I would definitely suggest beginining with Eloisa James. Some of my favorite novels come from her Essex Sisters, Duchess Quartet, and Desperate Duchesses series. They are heartwarming, fun, & just a wee it naughty (there are several naughty scenes depicted in these novels, so as with most historical romance novels, I do not suggest these books for minors), but they are definitely wonderful reads!

The books are available in various prints, including kindle from Amazon.

If you are already an Eloisa fan, what are some of your favorite authors? What are some other authors that you enjoy reading? Comment below!
